The DBA is an association for people interested in barges and barging and provides opportunities for them to share information and experiences through its website, forums and meeting up at rallies and seminar events and the association through its activities promotes general awareness of barges and barging.

The DBA membership exceeds 1500 members made up of owners, builders, converters and those dreaming of a life afloat from all around the world. Between them they own over 1100 old, new, big and small vessels which are used for pleasure cruising and living aboard mainly on the waterways of the UK and Western Europe and increasingly onto the waterways of Eastern Europe.
